Ikebukuro 池袋

On Sunday I, and about half of the population of Tokyo, headed to Ikebukuro to do some shopping and walking around. I started near Sunshine City, just doing some exploring in what is basically a very large mall, beneath a huge office building, but with an interesting history- it is built on the site of a former prison. I also ran into these guys, who were posing for pictures in front of the Toyota showroom.

I ended up over by Ikebukuro Station, which has a mind-boggling two million people a day pass through it. It certainly felt like all those people were there this evening. I did some Christmas shopping too, doing my part to support the consumer economy.
